Locally Owned Since 1993

Torrance's trusted destination for secure destruction.

The Shredding Place has served the South Bay since 1993. Now under new ownership at the same trusted location, we provide certified, witness-verified shredding for businesses and residents - with higher shred standards than most competitors and pricing that's honest, transparent, and competitive.

  • Locally owned and operated - not a national chain
  • Witness destruction by appointment
  • Cross-cut shredding (higher security than basic strip-cut)
  • Certificate of Destruction with optional serial number scanning
  • All shredded material recycled after destruction

“Watch it shred. Walk away certain.”

That sentence is the whole business. Every workflow, every certificate, every renovation we have ever made to this facility comes back to it. The customer should watch the destruction with their own eyes, and walk out without a single doubt.

Our Story

Three decades on Del Amo Boulevard.

The same address since the day we opened. Below, the milestones that turned a one-shredder shop into the South Bay’s witness-destruction facility.

  1. 1993

Doors open at 1926 Del Amo Boulevard

The Shredding Place opens in Torrance with one industrial shredder, a viewing window, and a promise: customers see their records destroyed.

  2. 1998

    Hard drive destruction added

Drive destruction service launches alongside paper shredding so businesses can dispose of digital media with the same chain-of-custody assurance.

  3. 2005

    Industrial cross-cut upgrade

Upgraded to a higher-security cross-cut shredder, a level above the strip-cut machines most competitors still use today.

  4. 2015

    E-waste and battery recycling

Service expanded to mixed electronics, batteries, and CRT monitors, so customers could clear out the long tail of office hardware in one trip.

  5. 2025

    Under new ownership

Same Del Amo Boulevard location, same witness-shredding tradition, refreshed service standards and a clear roadmap for digital intake.

  6. 2026

    Digital platform launch

Online booking, customer portal, walk-in QR intake, and an automated Certificate of Destruction pipeline come online with the website rebuild.

Our Values

Four principles that decide every call we make.

Hiring, equipment purchases, pricing, and service decisions all run through these filters before they go live.

  • Witness over hauling

Seeing is believing. We let customers stand at the viewing window and watch every page and drive destroyed in real time.

  • Local over chain

We live in the South Bay. Our customers are our neighbors. We answer the phone, we know your name, and we earn the next visit one job at a time.

  • Certified over assumed

Every appointment generates a sequentially numbered Certificate of Destruction. Audit-ready, kept forever.

  • Recycled over wasted

100% of shredded paper and disassembled hardware enters the appropriate recycling stream. Destruction without environmental tradeoffs.

Under New Ownership

Same Del Amo Boulevard. Same witness window. Refreshed service standards.

The Shredding Place transitioned to new ownership in 2025. Our priorities for the change are simple: preserve everything customers already love, and modernize the operation behind the counter.

  • Same team, same building. The crew you have called for years is still on the floor.
  • Stricter compliance posture. Refreshed certificate templates, audit ledger, and documented chain-of-custody.
  • Wider service line. E-waste, batteries, and CRT monitors added to the catalog so single-trip cleanouts cover more.

What Customers Say

Three decades of trust, one job at a time.

My experience with this place was great! I was in the process of moving across the country and had lots of documents that I wanted shredded. I have a little shredder but it would have taken a really long time to do it myself versus showing up at their business with maybe a 140 pounds of documents that they were able to shred in maybe 10 minutes. I witnessed the shredding which was a fascinating process. I also had them destroy multiple hard drives, iPhones, iPads as well various items that were no longer usable. I don't often write reviews but if you are looking for this kind of service I would highly recommend this business in terms them being very helpful and having great prices!

When you have private or confidential files you want to shred, you can trust Shredding Place in Torrance. I've been using their services for over 16 years. I have clients' files with their personal IDs, clients' medical records, my old TAX files, the company's records, old Fax records files, old DVDs and CDs, and my past school's personal information. They have all types of shredding machines for paper, discs, old cassette tapes, old VHSs, hard drives, films, etc., at their facility. You can drop off or make an appointment to be a witness to the shredding process yourself. Their prices are less than half the price of the UPS Store shredding service. Even if you have a lot of everyday shredding items, I highly recommend Shredding Place. They're exceptionally trustworthy. To be frank, they did not ask me to write and post my honest review on Yelp.

What a great company! I was caught in a bind calling all over the South Bay. I told myself that I was going to try one more number to see if I could get someone that was open on Saturday. I called and they were not open, however they were coming in later. I met them at their office and what a joy meeting with them. After ten minutes job done, had a great time, great conversation and will make it a point to bring all my recycling here!
